Water partnership expands to three more villages

The borehole and solar pumping programme around the Ruvuma Gold operation now serves eleven villages, up from eight at the start of the year.

Three additional villages have joined the water partnership operated with the district council around the Ruvuma Gold operation. Eleven villages are now served by 28 boreholes fitted with solar pumps and metered standpipes.

A joint committee of village representatives, council engineers and company staff meets each month to review meter readings and maintenance logs. Spare parts are stocked at two workshops funded through the programme.

Uptime across the network was 97% over the last twelve months. The programme's operating cost is shared between the district water authority and the operation's community budget.
