About

A producer built around its operations

The group runs 5 operations in 3 countries and employs 9,160 people. The centre exists to keep the sites safe, funded and honest about their numbers.

What the company does

The group mines and processes three commodities: copper concentrate and cathode in southern Peru, gold doré in southern Tanzania, and spodumene concentrate in Western Australia. Together the operations hold 753 Mt of ore reserves with an average reserve life of 9.8 years.

The development pipeline — a second processing module at Wilga Creek, a lithium brine project in Argentina and an underground study in Peru — exists to replace the ounces and tonnes the operations mine each year.

Everything on this site is calculated from one published dataset: quarterly production by operation, reserves by category, and ESG indicators against 2030 targets. When a number changes, it changes everywhere.

History

Twenty years, one line

  1. 2004 — The company is founded in London to explore the high Andes of southern Peru.

  2. 2016 — First copper concentrate at Cerro del Viento, three years after construction began.

  3. 2019 — Ruvuma Gold pours its first doré bar in southern Tanzania.

  4. 2021 — Wilga Creek ships its first spodumene concentrate from the Pilbara.

  5. 2024 — Matawara is approved by the board; construction starts the same quarter.

  6. 2026 — Matawara produces its first cathode in March; Maitland Creek moves into development.

Ore to market

How a mine becomes metal

One flow, five steps — the same path the numbers on this site travel before they reach an investor presentation.

01 — Explore

Reading the ground

Geologists map, drill and assay long before any earth moves. A resource model earns confidence metre by metre, from inferred to measured.

02 — Extract

Mining the ore

Drill, blast, load, haul. The pit retreats in benches, and the haul truck follows a road built from the waste it carries.

03 — Process

Concentrating the metal

Crushers, mills and flotation cells turn run-of-mine ore into a concentrate worth shipping — roughly 200 t of ore to 1 t of copper.

04 — Ship

Rail, port, smelter

Concentrate moves by road or rail to port, then by ship to smelters and refineries, tracked from mine gate to customer.

05 — Rehabilitate

Putting the land back

Rehabilitation starts while mining continues — reshaped waste dumps, topsoil returned, native species planted, water monitored.
